APG-Neuros has been award the 2012 Artemis Top 50 Water Tech Company by the Artemis Project TM

Blainville, Québec, September 13, 2012

APG-Neuros, leading manufacturer of high efficiency Turbo Blowers, is pleased to announce that it has been chosen for a second year in a row as the recipient of the 2012 Artemis Top 50 Water Tech Listing Award. APG-Neuros was selected as one of the top 50 companies by a jury that included experts from corporations such as Intel, Archer Daniels Midland, IBM, Ecolab and Syngenta as well as McKinsey, CH2M Hill, Carollo Engineers and Singapore’s Public Utilities Board, who evaluated the nominated companies from around the world, their innovative solutions, value in application, the companies’ business models and their core teams.

“The Artemis Top 50 is the water industry’s benchmark for innovations that will matter. It identifies the new solutions that will meet the world’s water challenges,” stated Laura Shenkar, Chair of the Artemis Top 50™. The Top 50 are some of the most promising start-ups in the emerging high tech wave in water.”

For almost 20 years, since the development of the Single Stage Centrifugal (Magnetic Driven) in 1985, there was little technological advancement in the blower industry. APG-Neuros introduced their revolutionary air-bearing technology turbo blower in 2005 to North America. Initially, the product was received with hesitation and scepticism by the market – “It has taken a long time – educating the market is a slow process, but it is worth it in the long run” says Mr. Omar Hammoud, APG-Neuros’ President & CEO.

Consequently, APG-Neuros has experienced tremendous growth year after year as the technology became more widely accepted by the engineers and the end users alike. It all started with just one person, Omar Hammoud, in 2006 and has grown to a present total of 72 employees. Today, APG-Neuros has over 545 turbo blowers installed and over 130 units currently on order in North America and Europe.

“We have come a long way – an enduring journey which began 6 years ago. It is nice to see that our hard work and innovation have paid off. The recognition we received from our customers gives reassurance that we are on the right path to provide them product innovation and excellent service. We are very happy with the results. “ said Mr. Hammoud.

The core of the APG-Neuros Turbo Blower technology is the third generation bump foil air bearing which is oil-free and non-contact, and therefore does not require any lubricating or associated maintenance resulting in lower vibration from the rotor during operation. It has durability and endurance which was demonstrated through 25,000 starts – equivalent to more than twenty years in a typical operation. Other key technologies within the blower include the high efficiency impeller made from a forging with five-axis machining for higher integrity and higher fatigue life, as well as a larger diameter and precise impeller shape combined with optimal speed resulting in higher efficiency. The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) operates with no physical contact between stator and shaft, offering high precision motor speed control. Driven by sinusoidal Pulse with Modulation (PWM) algorithm lowers motor heat rejection and minimizes cooling requirements resulting in energy savings.

The award was presented to APG-Neuros by Artemis Water Strategy™ in Berkeley, CA on September 13 th , during the Cleantech Water Innovation Summit.
