The Performance Engineer is responsible for coordinating the aerodynamic design, new product modeling, design analysis and testing in accordance with the applicable standards in accurate performance reports that may include analytical data and/or test measurements. The Performance Engineer is accountable for representation and accuracy of the performance data produced in the form of proposals, customer specifications, submittals and other sales material. The Performance Engineer is responsible for the preparation of the Performance Test Procedures in accordance with the customer specifications requirements, preparations of the acceptance test setup, including test cell readiness, calibrations of instruments, reviewing tests in progress and resolving any technical concerns, questions and discrepancies related to the testing the product performance, and the preparation of comprehensive and accurate Factory Acceptance Testing reports.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
(include but are not limited to the following:)
- Develop product mechanical, aerodynamic and performance modeling, generate design performance characteristics, performance maps and produce user friendly performance calculation and selection tools, including automatic generation of performance tables and performance curves for multiple design points,
- Review the current and emerging test codes and produce reports discussing the implications on our product design and test facilities,
- Prepare design requirements to build and test new products or upgrade our test facilities to ensure compliance with the current or emerging test codes and customer requirements,
- Research industry to develop long and short terms plans for test assets in line with the product development plans, evolving Performance Test Procedures and Performance Test Codes,
- Prepare Acceptance Test Procedures and Test Reports for PTC 10, PTC13 and ISO 5389 requirements,
- Prepare and send test requirements to our suppliers, communicate the test requirements and review our suppliers test procedures and test reports,
- Develop test procedures and perform special operational and functional tests, witness and prepare test reports,
- Support blower selections and make recommendations for best options based on performance and installation,
- Review new projects proposal and specifications and support the sales teams with daily tasks,
- Define performance data, wire power, curve and test point for quotes, bids and during submittals, • Confirm and verify aerodynamic and performance calculations for our customers’ installations design, produce high quality installations and pipe design reports and include recommendations for best performance,
- Support any test cell issues and provide training to our test teams as required on performance and aerodynamics,
- Confirm PTC10 Test results from Neuros and act as a main point of contact for technical issues and communications related to the performance software “NX Map” updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering; Mechanical, Aerodynamic and Performance
- Minimum 5 years experience in Gas Turbine design, operation and maintenance
- Knowledge and experience with international Turbo-machinery Performance Test Codes
- Proficient in design analysis, presentation of data and writing professional design/test reports
- Fluent in french and english
- Occasional travel may be required within US, Canada and overseas.
